Kevin Lynes is 46 and lives in Lamberhurst with his wife Louise and their two young daughters - Rebecca aged 10 and Elise, 6.  In his spare time, Kevin holds a Pilot's Licence and flies light aircraft out of Biggin Hill Airport. He also takes an interest in the City of London, where he is a Liveryman and a Past Master of one of the City’s twenty five Ward Clubs.

He is a Director of Tunbridge Wells Training, a corporate software training company established in 1992 and with clients across the South of England.  He is a past Chairman of the Tunbridge Wells Business Forum, and a member of the eLocal Government Task Group of the County Councils Network.  He has also recently accepted an appointment as a National Procurement Champion for the Local Government Association.

Previously a Councillor at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, he stood down in 2001 on his election to Kent County Council as County Councillor for the Tunbridge Wells Rural West division.  A year later Kevin was appointed Cabinet Member for Resources, where his responsibilities included Personnel, Property, Information Technology, Procurement, Website, Public Contact, eGovernment, Legal, Secretariat and Procurement.  When the leadership changed in October 2005, Kevin was again appointed by the new Leader, as Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care.  His responsibilities now include Older People, Physical and Learning Difficulties, Day Opportunities, Occupational Therapy Services and Gypsies and Travellers.

Kevin was the Member originally responsible for the “Connecting Kent” programme, a partnership between Kent County Council and Microsoft, Dell, Intel, SONY, BT and others, bringing the benefits of new technology to schools, businesses and the wider Kent community.
